BLOG POST #12Hey guys! This is the last blog post... that means my weeks of jumping
have come to an end. I am currently in New York writing this blog post so as you can tell, I have been dedicated to this project. I missed a lot of school this week because I had the flu, but I managed to get all my workouts and stretches done anyways. I wasn't in class to see what the final step of "genius hour" is, but I'm planning on making a presentation with some of the stretches and to show my progress videos. In the presentation I will provide the compilation video, pictures of my stretches that I included in the blog, and screen shots of the height of my jumps. It will be fun to compare the first jump to the last one. Making the compilation video for this project was not easy, and I will present it on presentation day. I have put some kind of motivational music with the video just to add some... you know... motivation? I have done so many toe touches in places I never thought I would (NEW YORK) to be able to make this blog persistent and reliable. I rarely got off of my schedule, and when I did, it wasn't as bad as it could have been. I managed to get around winter break, thanksgiving break, random long weekends, and cheer competitions. Even though I am not required to post anything else after week 12 blog (that I know of), I may be able to post the compilation video after I have done my presentation. It has been fun keeping up with my friends blog post as well. I had the opportunity to see how some reached their goals and how some worked really hard to try and get there. I'm thankful for this project and how it connected us with friends, non school related stuff, and ability to maybe reach personal goals.

BLOG POST #11Hey guys! This blog post might be shorter than others just
because this project is coming to an end. I didn't have anything strange that would mess up my schedule this week, and I didn't have a Davie cheerleading competition. The only thing I had this week that would include this project was just normal practice. We did conditioning on our Thursday practice, and some of the workouts included high kicks like I do for this project! It was kind of cool that I was getting to do double my workout for that specific skill. It can only help me. I also had a dance concert on Thursday and Friday, but it never messed with my schedule for this project. Before dance concert I actually used some of my stretches to stretch out before we performed. It loosened up my muscles and made dancing a little easier. It's cool that I get to use these techniques I have learned in different parts of my life that don't have to do with this project. I'm sure when this is over I will still be doing all of this randomly or even stay on schedule because my cheer season won't be over by that time. I'm still working on the compilation video and getting that done and hopefully by this week or the next, I can get more information on some more deadlines. BLOG POST #10Hey guys! I'm excited to say I figured out how to post the picture
of me in a middle split, and why it wasn't working. I'm not so tech- savvy as you can tell, but I got my dad to help me and he figured out the problem. It was because I had downloaded it to my google drive and not as a PDF. I also managed to stay on my schedule and didn't have any complications even though I had one of the biggest competitions I have ever competed in this weekend. I have been so focused on stretching and not messing up my schedule. Davie beat over 250+ teams to come out with the highest score and winner of the NCHSAA Carolina Cup. Last week I was talking about how I was getting started on the compilation video, and I did. I will continue to do that this week as well just so I am not overwhelmed with work to do as this project comes to an end. I only got the first two or three videos in, and tried to find a good music to go in the background, but I don't think I like it. Looking over these videos and to see where I started and where I am right now is so crazy. My coaches have noticed and my mom even noticed as well. This was a great opportunity for me to get to do something that I needed to work on out of school, while I was in school. It's crazy to think I get a grade on something that has nothing to do with actual "school work". This week on top of the work I had on my schedule I also had to figure out how to post the picture of the middle split, (you can go back to the blog post to see) videoed my toe touch, uploaded my toe touch from the previous week, and started on my compilation video for the end of the project. It may not seem like a lot, but this week may have been one of my busiest weeks yet! BLOG POST #9Hey guys! This week was super crazy because of everything that is
going on! We had like a 5 day weekend from school to celebrate Thanksgiving, so if you are reading this I hope you had a good Thanksgiving! It was definitely a struggle to keep up with my workouts and my stretches. I had to do them while I was at my grandmas house in South Carolina. Even though this would probably be more of the time for me to mess up my schedule, I managed to keep everything on track. To be more specific I did my stretches in my cousins room, so I had to bring a change of clothes with me. We left directly after school on Tuesday to go. I did my workouts in my grandmas house. I got home and was able to right this blog, and take a video of my jump just in time to post this. Since this project is coming to an end, and I have shared everything you all need to know, its hard coming up with things to talk about. So I will talk about things I have learned so far:
I have noticed that my middle split picture STILL hasn't come up onto the blog post and I have tried everything. I will continue to try different things and work on getting it posted. Since the semester is coming to an end here soon, I have also decided to start working on my compilation video to show the growth! Just to get a head start and not to worry about it later. I will continue to work on it, but i'm just going to start it today. BLOG POST #7Hey guys! I actually had a few struggles this week. I haven't had
a problem with the schedule I had made the whole time I've done this project, but this week I did. We had a different kind of week in school this week so it threw off my normal cheer schedule. Since this week was different, I ended up having to change my schedule for this week and do it differently then I normally do. I don't think it had too much affect on my jumps, but this did teach me that I'm probably never going to come up with a schedule that will fit everything that goes on in my life perfectly. Normally I would be able to stay up a little later at night to do my workouts and stretching, but on these days, practice went until about 6:30. I got home and had so much homework and many tests to study for that I was just not able to make it work. I had practice Tuesday through Friday (because of the football game) So I ended up doing my stretches and workouts on Monday and Saturday. My team had a competition on Saturday for Davie, but I went ahead and did it anyways before I left for the competition. If anything that probably didn't hurt anything, it probably helped. So this week my toe touch was pretty good also. From what I could tell my toe touch didn't get much higher than it did from week 6 to week 7, but it still improved. So this week my toe touch was pretty good also. From what I could tell my toe touch didn't get much higher than it did from week 6 to week 7, but it still improved. It came to my attention that the pictures I have taken these past two week have not been showing up on my website. I will work on this during Genius Hour on Wednesday in class. I have recently been uploading my videos during Genius Hour too. I do this so my work load isn't so much on the weekends, based on what classes I have been taking in school right now. BLOG POST #6 |
